stuff

Well, it's a new year and somethings never change.
The weather this January is unbelieveable here in southeastern Illinois. We may have one or two cold days and have some snow (usually less than an inch or so) and then it warms up into the high 40's or low 50's. This is my kind of winter. I know though that it is not good for the farmers (causes more insects in the spring and summer) and it is bad for colds and flu. But gotta love it anyway!
A year ago, my husband was trying to get his stubborn father out of the middle of a flood and one of our old friends had an accident and died at the same time. What an awful start to a year. This year, only time will tell. No flood or accident yet. So that is a plus.
The long weekend is over now and we have to work three whole weeks before another long weekend. ick

Weather

Good to know you are enjoying the warmer weather. It is most definitely warmer in Texas this winter. I am fine with it sunny and 70's even if it doesn't feel like winter but we have had some 80 degree days that kind of bummed me out because I am thinking, if it is this warm now what will it be this summer? Yikes! :-)

Like you I had a rough 2005 but 2006 is here and I am hoping and believing for a better year. It has certainly started better! :-)

Best wishes!

Re: Weather

I hope you are not close to all the fires we have been hearing about. I cannot imagine what that must be like.
Yes, I have wondered about the summer weather what with winter being so warm. But we get what we get.
Thanks for the message.

Re: Weather

No, those fires are up in panhandle of Texas as I understand it. I am in central Texas. Of course we could have fires like that here to but we have been fortunate. I read this is the driest winter for this area since 1871. I am glad I found your journal and look forward to reading more of your posts.

I think we are on something like day 90 without any rain. Today the high was in the low 70ies.

It's ridiculous.

weather

It is just crazy everywhere. Some places have fire and dry and others are wet and flooding. We had the floods last year.
